After months of pleading from Joburg residents, world renowned all day café & bakery Coco Safar is finally set to open its eagerly anticipated Rosebank store on 22 April 2023.
Coco Safar Rosebank will open its doors on 22 April 2023
Located at the Zone in Rosebank, the boutique all-day café & bakery is set to be a massive hit with locals
Following an explosive run in recent months with the launch of 2 new stores in Cape Town at the V&A Waterfront and Constantia Uitsig Wine Farm, the brand is set to take Rosebank and the greater Gauteng by storm.
Affectionately regarded as the Hermes of coffee, bakery and café culture, Coco Safar continues to redefine daily luxury and has been consistently racking up accolades, rated by the likes of Forbes, Bloomberg and others as the world’s best coffee, while Food & Wine USA recognized its croissants among the four best in the world, on par with bakeries in Paris, Tokyo & Melbourne.
Only a select few bakeries in top international foodie destinations have succeeded in creating cult-like followings for their signature creations, demonstrating a very real demand for unique premium quality viennoiserie products. While specialty coffee and croissants are popular categories on their own, and for many a daily ritual, Coco Safar’s global accolades mark the first time a bakery has been recognized for serving best-in-class for both coffee and croissants under the same roof.
Last year, Coco Safar staged a 3-day pop-up store at the same location in Rosebank with locals queuing in droves to get a taste of their world-renowned croissants and coffee. While many successful bakeries would be ecstatic to move 1,000 croissants in a day, Coco Safar’s pop-up stand sold over 8,500 croissants in less than 72 hours. This massive success, very impressive even by New York and Paris standards, reflects how the community is literally hungry for new experiences and a fresh, original world class offering.
Coco Safar French brasserie menu is perfectly suited for today’s discerning globe-trotting consumers, boasting a truly cosmopolitan blend of Montréal’s vibrant ‘je ne sais quoi’, and Cape Town’s alluring vitality. The brand is thrilled to bring its breakfast, lunch and dinner favourites to Rosebank in a very European style, street-level al fresco dining experience, adding to the lure of the popular Rosebank precinct.
The launch of this latest urban chic boutique café & bakery is a no-brainer for Coco Safar. Perfectly located between Sandton's central business district and the leafy 'parks' suburbs, Rosebank is fast becoming the New York of Africa and a vibrant entertainment-driven destination. Coco Safar is set to be a welcomed addition to the pedestrian-friendly neighbourhood, enhancing the enticing dining scene, already bolstered by chefs such as David Higgs and Luke Dale Roberts who have made the neighbourhood their base.
The new Rosebank boutique café & bakery will be open for business from 11:00 on 22 April. Locals are encouraged to pre-order at firstname.lastname@example.org to avoid disappointment, with bookings starting from 2 May.
Coco Safar has also just launched their new couture gift boxes of designer quality pastry creations, small in size and big in flavour. Bedazzle your friends and guests by sharing these delightful gourmandises for a brunch happening, an afternoon tea at home or an after dinner treat and special occasion. About Coco Safar
Coco Safar® is an all-day luxury café delivering dazzling breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as specialty coffee & croissants, bakery goods & patisserie, with the right touch of sophistication and French je ne sais quoi that beautifully comes together with a uniquely distinct mix of North American and Cape Town flair. Created in Montréal, Canada more than 15 years ago, the globe-trotting brand opened its international flagship in Sea Point 5 years ago. Its new Atlantic Seaboard store at Piazza St-John perfectly combines the elegance of an old-world café with the casual allure of a neighbourhood eatery and everyday destination.
The word ‘Coco’, reminiscent of French haute couture, bespoke and designer-like quality, is combined with ‘Safar’, which means travel or journey. Together, the name fully encapsulates the brand’s promise of a journey beyond ordinary and luxurious daily indulgences that are authentic and memorable, and which coffee aficionados and foodies return for.
